The Ring of Brodgar does not stand alone as a monument to the ancient people of Orkney, both near to this site and spread across the whole of the north of Scotland there are numerous places where evidence of the past has been left. The Ring of Brodgar is one of four sites including Maes Howe, the Stones of Stenness and Scara Brae that form the heart of Neolithic Orkney.  You can easily walk to the Stones of Stenness to the south and further on to Maes Howe, but you will need to drive north west to see Scara Brae.
